Representatives of the Food & Drug Administration will provide status updates on Subpart E, “Agricultural Water” requirements and the proposed compliance date extension, as well as discuss some of their recent outreach activities with various stakeholders.

Marion V. Allen, B.S., FAC P/PM ll, Consumer Safety Officer/Project Manager,  FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Office of Food Safety, Division of Produce Safety, Fresh Produce Branch

Ms. Marion Allen serves as the Project Manager for the Fresh Produce Branch, Policy and Produce Safety Network teams.  In this capacity, Ms. Allen manages and coordinates programs and activities related to compliance and implementation of the Produce Safety Rule.  Ms. Allen’s broad knowledge and experience as an FDA Field Investigator and Compliance Officer encapsulates her understanding and application of FDA’s food and drug laws. 

 

Ms. Allen has 31 years of experience in food safety at FDA.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL and has completed graduate studies in Public Health Administration.

Chelsea Davidson, M.S., Consumer Safety Officer,  Division of Produce Safety, Fresh Produce Branch

Ms. Chelsea Davidson joined FDA in 2016 as a member of the Division of Produce Safety. As a Consumer Safety Officer in the Fresh Produce Branch, Ms. Davidson contributes to the development of policy, regulations, and guidance related to fresh produce safety, with an emphasis on agricultural water. Prior to joining FDA, Ms. Davidson earned her B.S. in Microbiology from Michigan State University, and her M.S. in Horticulture & Agronomy from University of California, Davis, where her research focused on understanding the transfer and growth of human pathogens during postharvest handling, and evaluating the effectiveness of various wash water treatments.

Trevor GilbertConsumer Safety Officer, Southern Region, US Food & Drug Administration, Produce Safety Network

Trevor was born on the Eastern Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.  He worked as an Agricultural Extension Officer with the Department of Agriculture and Labor in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, including various agricultural assignments throughout the Caribbean.  He later joined the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), AMS Specialty Crops Inspection Division as a Supervisory Agricultural Commodity Grader, a GAP/GHP/IP Auditor, auditing farms and produce distribution facilities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, and as a Marketing Specialist, Washington, DC.  Recently Joined FDA, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Produce Safety Network (PSN) as a Consumer Safety Officer (CSO) for FSMA Implementation and Compliance, and covers the following states in the Southern Region-  Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
